Renata ‘Rena’ Smith, MPA, serves Gary and Mary West PACE as its new executive director, where she directs the day-to-day operations of the center. Established with a grant from the San Diego-based Gary and Mary West Foundation, Gary and Mary West PACE offers high-quality, comprehensive and coordinated healthcare, social services and support for seniors who want to successfully age in place rather than in a nursing home. Smith’s 30-year track record as a passionate and effective advocate for underserved seniors makes her the ideal leader to serve in this important role. In the recent past, she has held executive positions at Welbe Health, where she worked to bring the PACE model of care to underserved markets, as well as at the CalOptima PACE program in Orange County, California. Prior to her various PACE leadership roles, Smith worked extensively in low-income HUD-funded senior housing, assisted living, palliative care, and hospice organizations. Rena earned her bachelor’s degree in gerontology from the University of Southern California, and her master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills.

Dr. Ross Colt currently serves as the Medical Director for the Gary and Mary West PACE. Originally from   Redding, CA, Dr. Colt received his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Davis, his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School, and his Master of Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University.  He is a Family Physician with more than two decades of full spectrum clinical practice experience, including a deep background in academic medicine and leadership in managed care environments at the regional and national level. A decorated war veteran, Dr. Colt served two combat tours in Iraq and retired after 24 years as an Army Colonel. He currently lives in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego with his wife and two teenage children.

Tim Lash serves Gary and Mary West PACE as its president. Established with a grant from the San Diego-based Gary and Mary West Foundation, Gary and Mary West PACE offers high-quality, comprehensive and coordinated healthcare, social services and support for seniors who want to successfully age in place rather than in a nursing home. Lash has extensive experience in shaping and advancing innovative and disruptive healthcare models, establishing collaborations across a diverse group of stakeholders and organizations. Lash also has a leadership role as chief strategy officer at West Health. Prior to joining West Health, he held leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson and several other healthcare companies.
